Boom.API ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how our mobile application collects, uses, and protects your information.

- Launch Data: We fetch rocket launch data from The Space Devs API to provide you with up-to-date launch information and sonic boom predictions.

- Notification Preferences: Your chosen notification settings, timing preferences, and which launches you've enabled notifications for.
- Display Settings: Your preferred display filters and settings.
- Location Data (Optional): If you enable location-based predictions, we collect your approximate geographic location to provide personalized sonic boom predictions based on your distance from launch sites. You can disable this feature at any time in the app settings.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Send you timely notifications about upcoming rocket launches and predicted sonic booms
- Display rocket launch schedules and details
- Calculate personalized sonic boom predictions based on your distance from launch sites (when location is enabled)
- Remember your notification preferences and settings
- Improve app functionality and user experience
Data Storage
- Local Storage: Notification preferences and display settings are stored locally on your device using secure storage mechanisms
- Server Storage (when applicable):
- If you enable notifications, a device identifier is stored on our servers to deliver push notifications
- If you enable location-based predictions, your last known location coordinates are temporarily stored on our servers (cached for up to 5 minutes) to calculate personalized sonic boom predictions
- Location data is automatically deleted when you disable location-based predictions
- We do not create user accounts requiring email/password
- We do not permanently track or store your location history
- Location data is only used for real-time sonic boom predictions and is not shared with third parties
Third-Party Services
The Space Devs API
We use The Space Devs API (https://thespacedevs.com) to fetch rocket launch data. Please refer to their privacy policy for information about how they handle data.
Push Notifications
We use Expo's notification service to deliver push notifications to your device. Notifications are sent based on your preferences and upcoming launch schedules.
Data Sharing
We do not:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Share your personal information with advertisers
- Track your behavior across other apps or websites
Children's Privacy
Our app does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences interested in space launches.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Enable or disable location-based predictions at any time through the app settings
- Disable notifications at any time through the app settings
- Request deletion of your server-stored data by contacting us at boom.nikolai@gmail.com
- Clear all locally stored app data by uninstalling the application
